Identifying marks of a worldly wisdom
1. A grudging desire for what another has.
2. A discontent at the sight of another’s blessings
V.16 “selfish ambition”-
Phil 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus
V. 16 “find envy and selfish ambition there you will find disorder and every evil practice”

II. A wisdom from heaven
Prov 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God
Identifying marks of godly wisdom?
V.17 “Pure”- filtered without residue.
“Considerate”- Observant of others and their feelings
“Submissive”- Yielding to another
Prov 13:1 A wise son heeds his father's instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.
“Full of mercy”
Luke 10:36 "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" 37 The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."
“Good fruit” = good works.
Col 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
God will provide you with everything you need to do the good works
2 Cor 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
1 Tim 5:21 I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.
James 2:1 My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism.
“sincere”- anupokritos (an-oo-pok'-ree-tos); without hypocrisy
V.13 “deeds done in humility”-
Matt 6:1 "Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
Spending time with the Teacher will make the disciple wise
